How to play Curryillion

Curryillion is one board a day. Everyone gets the same seven prompts. You read the prompt, the answer box opens, and a 24-second clock runs. The first correct name or team ends that prompt and scores it.

The loop

  1. Read the prompt. The official page says the question sits alone for a few seconds before you can type. It does not publish that pause as a number of seconds.
  2. Type a player or, on some prompts, a team. Submit. Wrong guesses cost time, not points. Guesses are limited; the cap is not printed.
  3. A near-miss spelling can offer a correction. Accents, periods, capitals and Jr. do not matter.
  4. The first correct answer locks the prompt. Rarity sets the points: 100, 70, 45, 25 or 10. A timeout is a Brick and scores 0.

Who counts

Any NBA player in history counts unless the prompt says otherwise. Teams count on some prompts, and former team names work. That is why a short stint or an old franchise name can be the deep answer rather than the star everyone types first. The tips page walks through examples that are real career facts, labelled as illustrations, not as today's board.

After the seventh prompt

The box score shows what you hit, the accepted answers for every prompt, and how you compared with everyone else that day. The share grid uses six marks:

When the board changes

A new board arrives at midnight Eastern Time. Consecutive days build a streak. There is no account: the streak lives in that browser. Clearing site data starts you over. Playing inside a frame on this site uses a separate storage partition from a tab on curryillion.com, so the two streaks do not match. Details are on stats.

Midnight Eastern, converted. European clocks change on different dates from US clocks.
ZoneWhile Eastern is on standard time (Nov–Mar)While Eastern is on daylight time (Mar–Nov)
US Pacific21:00 the previous day21:00 the previous day
London05:00 (GMT)05:00 (BST); 04:00 during the US/UK clock-change gap
Central Europe06:00 (CET)06:00 (CEST); 05:00 during the US/EU clock-change gap
India10:3009:30
China and Singapore13:0012:00
Japan and Korea14:0013:00

These rows are clock arithmetic from midnight America/New_York, not a table copied from the game. The game only says midnight Eastern. London and Central Europe briefly differ during March and late October because their clock-change dates do not match the US.

Phone, app, account

The official page sets a device-width viewport. At 390 pixels wide the home did not grow a horizontal scrollbar. togame.io, a separate write-up checked the same day, also says the game runs in the phone browser. There is no app and no download. The public pages list a browser game only.

Do not borrow the timer from a lookalike. Krillion and several similarly named sites use 25 seconds. curryillion.games uses 30 seconds and ten questions. The game at curryillion.com is 24 seconds and seven prompts.

Questions

How many guesses do I get?

The official rules say guesses are limited and that wrong guesses cost time. They do not publish the cap.

Does the phone version differ?

No. The same seven prompts run in the phone browser. A 390-pixel-wide capture of the official home did not overflow sideways.
