A hint method that does not spoil a list

When a prompt is stuck, the official tips say the first name in your head is probably everyone else's. Move one step sideways: an older era, a star's short stop, a role player, a journeyman, or a former franchise name. Worked examples that are career facts, not today's answers, are on tips.

Why a list can change after you played

The terms say prompts, scoring and answer lists may change at any time, including during a day's game. The 2 Nov 2026 note (timestamped 13:07 ET, screenshot header edition 8) says yesterday's prompt rejected correct answers and that, starting that day, the most common wrong guesses would be checked by hand. So the bad board was edition 7 and the manual additions started with edition 8. I keep both sentences rather than folding them into one vague 'around day 9'.

Past days, with the public note if one exists, are in the archive. I do not print a bulk list of prompts. The terms forbid collecting answer lists that way, and on 5 Nov no public post had the seven lines for edition 11.

Why might a correct name be rejected?

Lists can miss a valid name. From edition 8 the developer said common wrong guesses would be reviewed and valid ones added during the day.
